The Tamil period action film 'Thangalaan' was released in theatres on August 15 and it made a box office of Rs 72 crore. Directed by Pa Ranjith, the movie stars Vikram, Parvathy Thiruvothu, Malavika Mohanan, Pasupathy and Daniel Caltigarone in lead roles and the music for it was composed by GV Prakash. The movie was initially set for its release on OTT after 4 weeks of its theatrical release but it was delayed from its digital premiere on September 20.
Producer Gnanavel Raja, who is all set to release his next , 'Kanguva' now revealed that the OTT rights for the Vikram starrer was bought long back by the international OTT platform Netflix and that they have now scheduled it for a release on Diwali. Addressing the postponement of the film's release on the digital platform, he mentioned that they wanted a festival release since the movie was a big film.
He also cleared the air about the movie facing financial trouble which created its delay in digital release stating that all these claims are false. 'Thangalaan' is about the life of Dalit people who helped the britishers in finding the gold in KGF in Karnataka and Vikram plays a farmer who in-turn to earn more for his family helps the foreigners excavate gold and is troubled by a tribal goddess.
On the work front now, Vikram has signed up for his next film 'Veera Dheera Sooran' directed by SU Arun Kumar. The movie stars Dushara Vijayan as the female lead.
