’s dream. The actress, who made her debut in Tamil with Thondan, avers she realised at a young age that acting in films was her calling. Currently pinning hopes on her upcoming films, Pandiraj’s
Kadaikutty Singam
and Selva Sekaran’s
Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu 2
, the petite beauty says she’s more than happy to have landed these interesting roles.
“I play a village girl in both the films. My characters in Thondan and the recently released Sema were also that of homely girls. But each of them were different from the other in one or the other way. Kadaikutty Singam is set against a rural backdrop. It’s a family entertainer in which relevant topics like farming have been touched upon. I play one of the female leads in the movie which was shot in Tenkasi, Karaikudi, etc. On the other hand, Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu 2 is a sports-based flick. Vikranth, with whom I had shared screen space in Thondan, is the hero in this film, too.”
Arthana says that though she was first approached by the makers of Sema, it was Vennila... which she signed officially first. But then, the first
Kollywood
film of hers to hit the screens, was Thondan.
“It was one of Pandiraj sir’s assistants who saw my Telugu film who suggested my name for Sema, for which he had penned dialogues. They gave me a dialogue to perform and then I was okayed,” she elaborates.
