Anandaraj will once again be playing a don, this time from North Chennai, in a gangster movie titled Madras Mafia Company. Debutant filmmaker AS Mukundan, who is helming the project, informs us that Samyuktha Shan is essaying the role of a police officer.
Sharing that the film will revolve around the cat-and-mouse dynamic between the two characters, Mukundan says, “The story is about the downfall of a don who has been powerful for over two decades. Samyuktha’s character is the newly appointed police officer who tries to nab him.”
The filmmaker reveals that Anandaraj will once again be shown in a negative shade, a stark contrast to the humourous roles he has chosen in recent times. Additionally, Mukundan also says, “If there is a male don character in a film, then their opponent will always be a male police officer. But we wanted to create an energetic female character as the opponent.”
‘Mani Ratnam sir and Shankar sir are evergreen’Among the gangster films made in Tamil, AS Mukundan says he particularly likes Aaranya Kaandam (2010) and calls it “very raw”. Additionally, he also tells us about his favourite filmmakers and shares “I like Mani Ratnam sir and Shankar sir; they are evergreen. I also like Pari Elavazhagan, who not only directed but also played the lead in Jama.”
