'Dragon,' starring
Pradeep Ranganathan in the lead role hit the theatres yesterday marking its opening day at the box office. Directed by Ashwath Marimuthu, this romantic comedy-drama is off to a flying start minting Rs 6 crore on Friday.

In terms of occupancy rates on opening day, 'Dragon' recorded an overall 49.31% in Tamil Nadu. The morning shows started at 31.66%, gradually increasing to 45.99% during afternoon shows, 46.41% at evening shows and peaking at 73.18% during night shows.
The movie follows Ragavan Dhanapal, a bright student who transforms into a troublemaker after being rejected by his crush for not being rebellious enough. His life takes a dramatic turn when his college girlfriend breaks up with him due to his aimless behaviour. This relatable storyline resonates particularly well with young viewers.
'Dragon' is also released as 'Return of Dragon' in Telugu regions.
Interestingly, this film marks Pradeep's highest opening yet, surpassing his previous blockbuster 'Love Today,' which earned Rs 2.85 crore on its debut. With his previous film, Pradeep Ranganathan has seen a remarkable rise and has further connected well with the younger generation audience through engaging and relatable stories.
'Dragon' was released alongside Dhanush's directorial film 'Nilavuku En Mel Ennadi Kobam (NEEK),' which also hit theatres on February 21 but had a relatively modest opening of Rs 1-2 crore gross.
After completing its theatrical run, 'Dragon' will be available for streaming on Netflix.
