Renowned Carnatic musician Sreeranjini Kodampally, who has sung in Shaji N Karun’s ‘Swapaanam,’ has launched a new independent music album.
It is titled ‘Kaathirippu,’ which translates to ‘waiting.’ The song of the album, which goes ‘Ini Varumo Vaasantha Naalukal,’ is composed by her brother, violinist Kodampally Gopakumar. The lyrics of the track are by musician Sathian Malhar.
The words of the song echo the hope for a better tomorrow, at a time in which the world faces an uncertain and scary future. It wishes that the dark ages quickly pass with the strength of love and togetherness, to give way for a brighter time that awaits us. Interestingly, the track can be termed a collaboration of teacher musicians across the State. While Sreeranjini Kodampally is an assistant professor at the music department of the renowned Maharaja’s College of Ernakulam, its lyricist Sathian Malhar is also an associate professor at the department of Malayalam in the Government Arts and Science College, in Kozhikode.
