Onam is here, and the traditional feast - Sadhya is undoubtedly the most exciting part of the harvest festival. Keralites live by the adage "
Kaanam Vittum Onam Unnanam" which means one must have the Onam feast even by selling the property if needed.
Actor-former sportsperson
Prachi Tehlan, best known for her role in Mammootty starrer ‘Mamangam’ is in Kochi this year for the Onam celebration.
Speaking exclusively to ETimes, the gorgeous actress recalls her memories of observing Onam for the first time, and also speaks about how she is celebrating it this year.
“My first Onam was with ‘Mamangam’ team in 2019. During the festivities, we were touring with our film. I vividly remember going to Guruvayoor, with my adorable co-star Achu (Child actor Achuthan B Nair). Onam is a truly heartening period,” Prachi Tehlan reminisces, as she takes a walk down memory lane.
Prachi Tehlan has relocated to Kochi, to focus more on Malayalam and other South Indian movie industries, “I'm drawn to the content that originates from this region, and I'm eager to explore the actor in me.”
So, how’s the diva celebrating Onam this year? “I am celebrating Onam in all its fervor this year since I am in Kochi. To be honest, I’m 5 Sadhyas down, with plenty more to come, of course. I love to indulge in a Sadhya any time, and the 26 dishes are so unique.
Payasam holds a special place in my preferences. As for the dishes
Aviyal,
Sambar, Rasam, and
Inji Puli, rank among my favorites. Mixing these dishes together and savoring them on a banana leaf is an experience like no other. The taste is truly delightful!”
“I have been occupied with Onam shoots of late. Additionally, I have signed ‘Gentleman 2’, which will mark my Tamil debut. This year’s Onam is in my cozy abode in Kochi. And today is all about food and loved ones. Tomorrow, I am hanging out with my friends and of course, having more Sadhyas!” Prachi Tehlan signs off.
