'Pani' box office collections day 1: Joju George’s directorial debut opens strong with Rs 90 lakhs

Joju George’s directorial debut film ‘Pani’ has started on a good note at the box office. The movie, which is touted to be an action thriller, hit the big screens on October 24.

According to the early estimates by the Sacnilk website, Joju George’s ‘Pani’ has minted Rs 90 lakhs on day 1. The film is expected to collect more numbers in the coming days.

‘Pani’ is getting good reviews from the audiences and earlier the director Karthik Subbaraj hailed the movie. His Tweet read, “Here's the awesome trailer of #Pani #JojuGeorge 's debut directorial... I saw this film and it's Superb. An edge-of-the-seat action thriller with Super intense performances.... It's going to be a Blast in theatres ... Congratulations Joju Cheta @C_I_N_E_M_A_A And team Don't miss this Adipoli film releasing in theatres this October 24th.”
Director Anurag Kashyap who watched the preview show of the film, hailed ‘Pani’. His Tweet read, “Malayalam Cinema continues to shock and surprise and blow your mind. Saw this powerful thriller/drama film from @jojugeorgeactorofficial . A super confident directorial debut that goes the distance. It rises to the level of some of the best Korean new-wave films. Absolutely unmissable. Releasing Oct 24. Trailer out now .”
Starring in the lead and also directed by Joju George, ‘Pani’ also features the actors Abhinaya, Sagar Surya, Junaiz VP and others in pivotal roles. In an exclusive interview, the actress Abhinaya said to ETimes (with the help of her interpreter), “This film is special for two reasons, because of the script, and also its Joju sir’s debut directorial. The script is unique. I wouldn’t have signed this if it wasn’t different from what I have done so far.”
