M'wood directors turning to cricket
Looks like the Malayalam film industry has caught the cricket fever. After actors taking to cricket last year, it is now time for directors here to display their sporting talent. The industry is all set to witness filmmakers joining hands for cricket, with M A Nishad helming the team.
'I am an avid cricket lover and also a player. It's an honour for me to captain the first ever such directors' team,' says Nishad, adding, 'Director Diphan pitches in as vice-captain. Deepu Karunakaran, Arun Kumar Aravind, Lijo Jose Palliseery, Johny Antony, Suresh Krishnan, Vinodh Vijayan and Aashiq Abu are part of the team.'
The 15-member team will be complete after a selection process, to be held in the city shortly. 'Once we have the team's manager and coach in place, we will look into creating a jersey and logo too,'adds Nishad. As for those who are already on board, visits to the field, and of course, the gym have become regular. 'We will be playing our first match against a team of artists from south India in Dubai this December. It's a charity match, in aid of the chief minister's welfare fund,' says Nishad.
