Mollywood has had its share of male actors playing CIDs in superhits such as C.I.D Nazir, Pattanapravesham, CID Unnikrishnan BA B.Ed. and CID Moosa. Actress
Miya is set to join the league with the movie titled CID Sheela, which will also be her first film after her wedding last month.
The movie is directed by Saiju SS, who had earlier helmed Ira. On the movie, he says, “We are not presenting it as a fun entertainer like the other CID movies in Malayalam.
We are trying to shed light on a serious subject. The film’s tagline, ‘Never underestimate the power of a common woman’, touches upon the content that we are trying to convey. There are so many hidden talents in a woman and how she brings them out and what she does of them is the premise of this female-centric film.”
Further on Miya’s character in the movie, Saiju says, “The film’s poster shows two get-ups of Miya’s character – as a housewife and in a serious avatar. She plays the titular character Sheela; whether she is a CID or not is something we don’t want to reveal right now.”
Naveen John, who had worked with Saiju earlier in Ira, is the scriptwriter of this film. Editor Mahesh Narayanan, cinematographer Rajiv Vijay and composer Prakash Alex are also part of the movie. “The plan is to start the shoot soon but because there are a lot of outdoor portions that would make it tough to shoot with restrictions in place, we are waiting till things get back to normal or the restrictions are eased,” says Saiju, adding that the team will be revealing the other cast members through their character posters in the coming days.
