Manikuttan joins cast of Mohanlal’s ‘Empuraan’: Details of his character REVEALED

The makers of 'L2: Empuraan' have unveiled the 30th character poster, introducing Manikuttan as the latest addition to the Lucifer franchise. Interestingly, the actor had previously lent his voice to another character in Lucifer, but with this film, he steps into a significant role, playing a character named after himself.

Prithviraj Sukumaran, took to his Instagram handle to share the character glimpse of Manikuttan and penned a note that read, “Character No.30 Manikuttan as Mani in #L2E #EMPURAAN.”

In the video shared along with the post, reflecting on his journey, Manikuttan recalled how director Prithviraj Sukumaran had initially roped him in to dub for Lucifer, impressed by his fluency in the Thiruvananthapuram dialect.

"Are you thinking that everyone who dubbed for Lucifer is now appearing in Empuraan? In Lucifer, I was there only through my voice, but in Empuraan, I have an actual character to portray," said Manikuttan in the video.
“Raju (Prithviraj Sukumaran) had told me that if a sequel ever happened, I would get a role. He kept his word, and that’s how I landed such a great character in Empuraan,” he shared.
Manikuttan also noted how early in his career, people suggested he change his name, but now, he is playing a role under his real identity. While remaining tight-lipped about specific details, he hinted at an intense cinematic experience, stating, “Just as I was blown away by the film, I believe the audience will be too.”
Directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, ‘L2: Empuraan’ marks the third directorial venture of Prithviraj Sukumaran. The movie which is the second installment of the Mohanlal starrer ‘Lucifer’, is mounted on a huge budget and the recently released teaser for the film has soared the expectations even more. Audiences are eagerly waiting for the film to hit the big screens on March 27.
