K Madhu speaks about his 35 year-long journey with the CBI franchise and Mammootty

The works on the fifth installment of the investigative CBI franchise starring Mammootty are progressing. Titled ‘CBI 5: The Brain’, the fifth installment also marks director K Madhu, scenarist SN Swamy, Mammootty, and other actors’ journey into the 35th year together for the venture. The master brain of the franchise, director K Madhu has penned a note on his social media handle, speaking about the three-and-a-half-decade journey with the franchise.
“I proudly cherish my journey, that I am sharing with the ever trending mega star of Indian cinema Shri. Mammootty, and the character of Sethurama Iyer CBI, which we brought to life on the silver screen, together with our writer and suspense thriller creator Shri S.N. Swamy. This month, our journey continues on the 35th year, as we bring you the 5th edition in our CBI movie series, CBI 5: The Brain (sic),” K Madhu said in his note.

Directed by K Madhu, and written by SN Swamy, the creators of all the past four films from the franchise, ‘CBI 5: The Brain’ also brings together not just the central character Sethyrama Iyer, played by Mammootty, but also the pivotal characters Chacko and Vikram, which will be reprised by the original cast Mukesh and Jagathy respectively.

Apart from them, ‘CBI 5: The Brain’ will also feature Renji Panicker, Sai Kumar, Soubin Shahir, Ramesh Pisharadi, Anoop Menon, Dileesh Pothen, Ravi Kumar, Harish Raju, Edavela Babu, Sudev Nair, Prasanth, Alexander, Ramesh Kottayam, Jayakrishnan, Prathap Pothen, Suresh Kumar, Chandhu Karamana, Azees Nedumangad, Santhosh Keezhattur, Asha Sarath, Kaniha, Ansiba, Malavika Menon, and, Malavika Nair, in supporting roles.

Meanwhile, the past four movies from the franchise are ‘Oru CBI Diary Kurippu’, ‘Jagratha’, ‘Sethurama Iyer CBI’, and, ‘Nerariyan CBI’.
