Sunny Leone brought Kochi to a standstill, when she first visited Kerala in 2017. The roads were crowded like never before as she stepped out from her car for the inaugural ceremony of a popular brand. The adult actress turned Bollywood star has won hearts of thousands in Kerala, both for her films and her humanitarian side. Sunny Leone has appeared in a cameo for ‘Madhura Raja’, but the stunner will be marking her debut in Mollywood with the upcoming movie ‘Rangeela’, playing the lead.
We caught up with Santhosh Nair, the director of the film. In an exclusive interview with ETimes,
Santhosh Nair spilled the beans about the much-awaited ‘Rangeela’.
“Sunny Leone is essaying Sandra Lopez, a Bollywood actress,” Santhosh Nair said revealing about Sunny’s role. “Her character is involved in a lot of charity work and the movie revolves around Sandra sponsoring a village,” Santhosh added confessing that he couldn’t reveal much, as it might affect the engaging nature of the film. Confirming that ‘Rangeela’ was a comedy thriller, Santhosh further added, “It is also a road movie.”
Santhosh Nair, who has given two movies - ‘Money Ratnam’ and ‘Sachin’, in the past, has worked with some of the seasoned actors in the industry. When asked about how it was working with The Sunny Leone, Santhosh gave us the most exciting details. “Initially I thought that it would be tough working with Sunny and I was a bit tensed. So we had the shoot from 9 am to 5 pm. Three days into filming and she enquired why we weren’t filming for more time, as she had given us 12 hours of call sheet for a day,” Santhosh informed excitedly, admitting that he had never seen such a dedicated actress in the industry. The director also added that they weren’t filming more hours as they had no night sequences in their initial Goa schedule.
“Her everyday makeup and costume take about two hours to complete and she has given us the 12-hour schedule excluding that! And I think not many artists, especially women in M-Town would invest this huge time or hard work into a project. Sunny Leone is very particular and punctual about time,” Santhosh said clearly indicating his admiration for Sunny. The director also mentioned that Sunny was the most polite person when it came to interacting with her co-actors.
When asked about the most anticipated question, ‘Does Sunny Leone have Malayalam dialogues’, the director gave a positive nod and added that she had a few!
“We were about to start the second schedule by the end of April. But due to the COVID-19 outbreak, I can’t tell how things will go now. We can’t decide the next schedule until the lockdown ends,” Santhosh said with a concerned tone. Starring Sunny Leone, ‘Rangeela’ has completed its first schedule in Goa. The team were planning to head to Karnataka’s Hampi for its second schedule but the lockdown due to Coronavirus came into force and all schedules had to be put on hold.
