Suraj Venjaramoodu’s Ente Satyanveshana Pareekshakal (ESP), which had created quite a furore with its controversial launch posters, seemed to have gone in limbo post its first schedule of filming last year. However, its director Subil Surendran informs us that the project is very much alive and the team is now planning to film its next schedule sometime this year.
“We had filmed for two weeks. The next part of the movie has got a period setup, and it needs a bit of work. Also we need the entire cast together, so getting the dates of all artistes is the challenge,” says Subil about the film, which also has Mythili and Rahman in prominent roles.
Incidentally, the film marks a tribute to Mollywood’s comedians and would be the second such film penned by
Shankar Ramakrishnan. His previous film, Netholi Oru Cheriya Meenala, told the story of an aspiring writer and brought to light the conflicts between the character and the scribe.
Shankar had earlier told us, “Suraj’s role entails the emotional and psychological travails of a man who is labelled as a comedian. Usually, there is a huge difference between the individual personality and the kind of image that Mollywood’s comedians build over the years. ESP is also a take on the depression that is part of a comedian’s psyche.”
While the second schedule of ESP is yet to be finalised, Subil is gearing up for another project featuring two relative newcomers. “I will be doing another project with Sanju of Nee Ko Nja Cha fame and another cast member, who is yet to be finalised,”
he says.
