Shibla Fara was under quarantine when we connected with her over the phone. A week ago she was filming for her upcoming project titled ‘Divorce’. Shibla was killing boredom by watching movies. Although the quarantine period is a bit tough, she is glad that all these afflictions are for something she loves the most - Cinema. Shibla is only a movie old, but she has already fallen for the magnificent world.
In an exclusive conversation with ETimes, Shibla Fara spills the beans about her upcoming project ‘Divorce’, her experience working during the pandemic, and much more.
Shibla was as jovial and chirpy as Kanthi - the character with which she conquered hearts. “It was exciting to be in front of the camera after a long time. The shoot of ‘Divorce’ was scheduled for March 25, but the team wasn’t able to carry out the production due to the prevailing situation. The team kickstarted the shoot in October and I joined them by 16,” Shibla said sharing about filming for the movie during the pandemic. She had eight days schedule and wrapped her portion and is currently under quarantine.
Shibla confesses that filming during the pandemic is no joke, as all of them had to follow the safety protocols and should be careful about every step, but what kept her going is her love for portraying the character. “I have been sitting at home for months. It felt like a breath of fresh air. I love every aspect of filmmaking and it makes me happy. I enjoyed being back on the film set,” she said.
‘Divorce’ is an upcoming movie directed by debutant Mini IG. The movie takes the audience through the lives of four women, who are facing divorce. And Shibla is playing one of the four lead characters, named Noorjahan. “Noorjahan is a mother of two twin girls. She is in an extremely helpless situation, trapped, and there no way out for her.
Noorjahan is deeply guilty of a wrong step she has taken and society haunts her for that. Sometimes, in life, one mistake blacks out all the 'right' we did till date. Noorjahan is in a similar scenario. She is being haunted by the mistake that she cannot erase away.
The actress also shares that Noorjahan is very different from her previous character Kanthi and that’s what encouraged her to take the role. “Unlike Kanthi, Noorjahan is not a lively or bubbly character. She is in pain. Noorjahan loves children in general. She always looks at things from their perspective. Although divorce is a painful process for her in many aspects, the intensity surges when her kids are involved,” Shibla said, divulging more details regarding the character she plays.
The charismatic actress signs off with high hopes that her second movie also impresses the cinephiles as her debut.
