Any news involving members of the Rajkumar family evokes a lot of interest. Naturally, when the first-look poster of
Raghavendra Rajkumar’s son
Yuva Rajkumar’s debut movie was revealed on the birth anniversary of the late matinee idol, it raised a few eyebrows. The poster featured the debutant in a rather rugged look, and we have now been told that it is because the film, helmed by newbie Puneeth Rudranag, will have a period subject.
Puneeth says, “There are two subjects that we are currently toying with.
During the Hoysala regime, there was an 18-member elite body of guards called Garuda, who would sacrifice their own lives to ensure the safety of the royal family. We recently met historian Arenahalli Shivashankar Dharmendra Kumar to research this subject. There is another arc that revolves around the Mysuru kingdom, from a time before the current Palace came into being. We are yet to zero in on the final script, but either which way, we are looking at narrating a story that reflects the culture, and legacy of ancient Kannadigas. We are looking at erecting a grand set of the erstwhile Mysuru wooden palace.”
