Nidhi Subbaiah has signed her next film in Bollywood after Ajab Gazabb Love. This time, she is playing a desi rockstar in director Rajeev Ruia’s Direct Ishq. “The character is tomboyish, much like the one I played in Pancharangi. She’s a rockstar from Benaras who has a band that performs at small gigs, and she wants to perform in Mumbai,” says Nidhi, who is paired alongside model-actor Rajniesh Duggal and television actor Arjun Bijlani in this film.
Ask Nidhi what made her sign this project after the long break and she says, “This is a very desi film with a good script. I’ve played a tomboy before, but this is the first time I get to play the lead singer of a rock band. I chose to do the film since I’m passionate about singing,” says Nidhi.
So, will she be singing for the film too? “My team was surprised to learn that I sing and they’re toying with the idea now. It depends on how my voice suits the film and the compositions,” says Nidhi, who is scheduled to begin with workshops for the film shortly.
