It's a year of remakes in Sandalwood. The next film in line to be remade in Kannada is the Tamil film Raam. The 2005 Tamil drama was directed by Ameer Sultan and had actors
Jiiva, Gajala and
Saranya Ponvannan in lead roles. The film revolves around the relationship of a mother and her son. The movie was critically acclaimed and even won a couple of national and international awards for best music score and best actor.
The latest we hear is that filmmaker
Om Prakash Rao will remake the film in Kannada. His last directorial was the Shivarajkumar-Ragini Dwivedi starrer
Shiva. But Om has done a couple of remakes earlier starting with
Huchcha, a remake of Tamil film
Sethu,
Annavru (Thalapathi),
Ayya (Saamy) and
Kalasipalya (Dhool), among others.
Though the director is working with
Duniya Vijay for his upcoming film
Putta,
Om Prakash will begin work on Raam's Kannada remake as well. Though the cast is not finalized as yet, Om is keen on giving the title of the film as
Huchcha. Reports suggest that movie will be launched during the mid week of April and shooting will commence from May. Now the big question is who will play the role of Jiiva and Saranya in the Kannada remake?
