Sharmiela Mandre: I was offered 'Gaalipata' back in 2008 but had to turn it down due to scheduling conflicts

Sharmiela Mandre has a big year ahead of her. Along with a vibrant role in Yogaraj Bhat's upcoming ensemble film 'Gaalipata 2', she will also be making her debut as a full-fledged producer with 'Dasara', an experimental thriller that she stars in along with Sathish Ninasam. However, the actor in her is particularly kicked about starring a high profile film like 'Gaalipata 2', considering she was offered a similar role in the first installment 'Gaalipata', back in 2008!

"I suppose not many people know about this but Yogaraj sir had offered me a lead role in 'Gaalipata' but I was working on a different film at the same time and couldn't help but say no to the role.That decision has remained with me all along because who wouldn't want to work with Yogaraj sir or Ganesh sir. I am just glad that more than a decade later, I was given another opportunity to work with both of them and it's been such a wonderful experience. Despite all the challenges because of Covid, the team forged on and made it happen," shares Sharmiela. She goes on to reveal that the film is currently in the post-production stage and that one can expect the release date to be announced soon.

'Gaalipata 2' marks the return of the trio of Ganesh, Diganth, and director Yogaraj Bhat, and with Anant Nag and Rangayana Raghu too playing key roles in the film, the film can be seen as a reunion of sorts. Along with Sharmiela Mandre, the film also has Vaibhavi Shandilya and Samyuktha Menon playing crucial roles in the film with filmmaker/actor Pawan Kumar becoming the third member of the boy gang. Nishvika Naidu will be seen making a special appearance in the film.
