One of the biggest millennial heroes from Sandalwood who has made a name for himself outside the state too is actor, writer and

. His films, especially

Ulidavaru Kanadante

,

Kirik Party

and

Avane Srimannarayana

won him acclaim from film aficionados across India. Here's looking at some of his older interviews for inspiration and motivation for film aspirants.

On his inspirationAll my motivation comes from my childhood heroes. I think after that, I have found my way to work. At present, I don't have someone who motivates me, because I don't need a motivation. I know what I and my team, can do. The kind of scenes Kamal Hassan sir does or Annavaru's (the late actor Rajkumar) mythological films have motivated me. And of course, the way Shankar Nag sir did commercial films and parallel cinema and worked 24/7. To act in about 40 films, direct 11 and direct over 30 episodes of Malgudi Days - all in the span of 11 years is definitely not a small job. It is unimaginable and that has motivated me to work hard. And lots of directors like Quentin Tarantino and Christopher Nolan too.

On motivation
I did not want to do anything else than films. I was sure of this when I did short films and regardless of when my films fared well or poorly at the box office. There was no other plan, I knew I had to walk in this path. I knew that someday I will get the pulse of the audience and know the kind of films I should make to survive here.

Formula to making films for a national canvasThere is no formula. Just make good films. Audiences are ready to accept good films in any language. Especially audiences from the north are looking for good films from the South. If we give a film in their own language, it will work. Concentrate on making good films. I don't think it is necessary to go places and talk. Ultimately if you don't do good films, you don't have a place to talk. If you do a good film, the world is your stage. Someday, people will realise the power of Kannada cinema also.
