A doctor who runs a private hospital on Malleswaram 18th Cross has accused Sandalwood producer and actor Rockline Venkatesh and his brother Bhramaresh of allegedly assaulting him and getting him to sign on some blank sheets of paper, on Tuesday evening.
In his complaint to
Rajajinagar police filed on Wednesday evening, Dr Rame Gowda, who runs
Vagus Superspecialty Hospital, said he had borrowed Rs 1.45 crore from Bhramaresh at 2.5% monthly interest.
He said he had been paying the interest regularly, except in the past two months.
He also told police that he had sought some time to pay the interest, and that Bhramaresh asked him to come to his office on Dr Rajkumar Road, Rajajinagar, to discuss the issue.
The doctor went to the office around 5pm, where he was assaulted by Bhramaresh and three others, with Venkatesh intervening to stop the clash. The doctor alleged that one of the attackers aimed a revolver at him, as the others beat him up.
Dr Gowda claimed he was kept captive in the office till 9pm, before he was forced to sign some blank sheets. He was also asked to register the hospital in the name of the moneylender on Thursday.
Police said a case under Sections 323, 324 and 506-B of the IPC had been filed against Rockline Venkatesh, Bhramaresh and three others. The doctor alleged that local police did not want to register the complaint, and delayed filing of the case.
"We are investigating. All legal procedures are under way," DCP (North)
Sandeep Patil said.
