Sophie Choudry: Jaipur has changed, but has retained its regal charm

Sophie Choudry recalls how Bikaner had lent an earthy charm to a video she had shot there and says Jaipur looks royal despite the modernisation it has seen over years.
Singer-actress Sophie Choudry has been to Jaipur many times and feels that even though the city has changed massively, Jaipur still retains its heritage charm that makes it different from other cities.In the city recently to promote her new single 'Sajan Main Nachungi', she said, “I have been coming to Rajasthan for many years now. I think, whoever comes to this state connects with it on a very special note. I remember I shot for a video in Bikaner at Siddhi Kumari's palace. It was an amazing experience the backdrop of that heritage building took our video to the next level. I am also crazy about Rajasthani food. For Jaipur, I would like to say is that the city has changed massively in a few years; so many malls and buildings have come up. But it has still managed to retain its earthy look. I find that very fascinating.“

Talking about the current trend of rehashing old hit numbers, Sophie said, “Old melodies are the best ones.People remember it for years, unlike the compositions that are made today . So when someone is remixing an old song, there is a sense of nostalgia to it. I think it works well for both the filmmakers and the artiste whose song is being recreated the artiste gets its due and also helps the filmmaker promote his film. But I won't agree to the people who say that creative juices of today's composers are drying up. On one hand, if you have Karan Johar giving you a rehashed version of Kaala Chashma, he is giving you original compositions in 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil'."
