People are ashamed of their roots: Ranjit Barot
So if you are a Jazz fan then you won't take anytime to recognize the name. He has made a name of his own on national as well as international circuit with amazing talent with the sticks.
Collaborating with John McLaughlin and playing with the likes of U. Srinivas, Zakhir Hussein and more, Ranjit has done it all in his musical journey that started at the age of 14.

So what does he think of how India is doing copying western music and forgetting our own? "We as a nation has lost sight of what we want. If I had the money I would completely change things around. Its not that rock is not good, it is, but one should not forget the roots." He adds, "These days people are ashamed of their roots to the extent that they don't want to talk in their own mother tongue."
Talking about roots, where does he belong to? "My father is a Gujarati, but I belong to every place. I don't belong to any one particular place and I don't find it necessary." He adds, "I love traveling and I have done a lot of it. Traveling helps you put things in perspective."
That sure looks like a soul that likes to wander. Music, as they say knows no boundaries and so it takes the musician to all corners for their search.
