Israeli Sufi band performed with Diwan Saz, Kutle Khan, a kartal player from Jaisalmer

It was all about jugalbandi, impromptu jigs, applause and melodious Sufi music, as Israeli qawwali singer Shye Ben Tzur and Israeli Sufi band – Diwan Saz, along with Kutle Khan, a kartal player from Jaisalmer, blended their music and put up an entertaining show.

It was all about jugalbandi, impromptu jigs, applause and melodious Sufi music, as Israeli qawwali singer Shye Ben Tzur and Israeli Sufi band – Diwan Saz, along with Kutle Khan, a kartal player from Jaisalmer, blended their music and put up an entertaining show.
The cultural evening was held to celebrate 20 years of diplomatic relations between Israel and India.

All through the evening, Alon Ushpiz, ambassador of Israel, stressed on the idea that the language of music and art transcending boundaries created by borders, allowing people to enjoy the warmth the people of the two countries have for one another.
Dvir Cohen Eraki, lead singer of the band, said, “There is a taste of our culture in your culture. There are so many things that are common. For us, India is home, spirituality is still alive in this country and every time we come here, we are inspired.”
At the event, Israeli photographer Dana Friedlander, exhibited photographs of Israel. She said she would love to capture India’s beauty as the country has “colour, women in saris and big markets”.
