Today is a time and age when yesteryear hits are getting a remake. While ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh’ got a modern day twist, Farah Khan is reportedly working on a remake of
Amitabh Bachchan’s iconic film ‘Satte Pe Satte’.
However when
Waheeda Rehman was asked about the remake theme ruling Bollywood these days, she expressed that she doesn’t want any of her films to get a new-age twist.
The Bollywood veteran has delivered hits like ‘Kagaz Ke Phool’, ‘Guide’ and ‘Pyaasa’ to name a few. Speaking to Zoom Waheeda Rehman expressed that there were a lot of attempts to remake ‘Guide’ but it did not materialise. “I think remakes take the charm away from classic films and I don't want someone making a remake of any of my film.”
Waheeda Rehman marked her acting debut with 1955 release Telugu film ‘Rojulu Marayi’ while her first Hindi film was ‘CID’. However it was
Guru Dutt’s ‘Pyaasa’ which marked her debut as a leading lady. She went on to entertain with hits like ‘Neel Kamal’ and ‘Reshma Aur Shera’ to name a few.
