Throwback: Richa Chadha recalls Ali Fazal's unique proposal on their second anniversary: 'He didn't go down on his knee'

The most loved couple of Bollywood, Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal, are going to celebrate their two years of marriage and here we are taking a walk down the memory lane of their beautiful proposal story. In an old interview with Bride's Today in the year 2020, Richa mentioned that the Mirzapur actor proposed to her in Maldives in the most hilarious and unexpected way.
Ali had planned a romantic candlelit dinner on the secluded island in a surveyor village, where Richa was expecting to be blown away with no more than a birthday celebration.At the end of the dinner, when champagne glasses were clinked in toast, Richa was in for a surprise - Ali popped the question on the spur of the moment, without a ring on his hand and didn't even get down to one knee - making the entire experience very different. Richa playfully recalled that Ali, after popping the question, took a 10-minute nap on the sand, likely out of nerves!
Richa also remembered those early days of their relationship fondly. "As far as I can remember," she admitted, "it was I who first confessed; I got convinced while watching the 1992 biographical comedy Chaplin. Richa loved that Ali loved this film; in fact, even she adored them.
Richa's accident-prone ways - dropping cutlery and spilling food at the table-head were, he admits affectionately, one of the many things that made him fall for her.
Ali fondly shared how Richa’s charming clumsiness, often spilling food or dropping cutlery, made him fall in love with her. He even recalled a memorable mishap during a fine dining experience in Venice, where Richa accidentally launched a bean from her plate in the direction of Dame Judi Dench, calling it her "Pretty Woman moment."
The lovebirds, who got married on October 4, 2022, recently welcomed their baby girl on July 16, 2024.
