Post the success of Gattu, singer-songwriter, actor, writer and filmmaker Ankur Tewari is all set to direct a musical. Ankur feels that some stories are best told through songs or movies and that is exactly what he does. The current film he is working on will have newcomers. Though the script is ready, he prefers to stay mum about the storyline as he has to give it its final touches.
“It’s an independent film and semi-autobiography. The film will be shot in Rishikesh and Delhi,” he informs.
Ankur has films like
Tum Mile as a writer,
Tere Bin Laden as a script doctor and his debut film Let’s Enjoy as a director, to his credit. He has also played small roles in films like
Saat Khoon Maaf and
Soundtrack. Ask him if he plans to act in this film and he quips, “I can’t direct myself!”
Ankur has written songs for the film and has also roped in musicians Raghu Dixit, Sidd Coutto and Michael McClary for the music. Always on the move, Ankur shares that one of their songs was written when he and his band were travelling to Pune for a gig. “Sidd and I finished the melody in the taxi, and I wrote the lyrics at the venue where we were performing,” he says.
