Akshay Kumar and Pankaj Tripathi starrer OMG 2 has done exceptionally well at the box office. There have been many who were upset with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) giving it an A certificate. Now in an interview, director Amit Rai has revealed that he folded hands in front of CBFC to grant him a UA certificate.
The director revealed to Bollywood Hungama that when the teaser of the film went for certification, the board wanted them to chop off a shot from Oh My God, which the makers obliged but they were not prepared for the heavy censorship which followed for the certification of the film. When asked how many cuts they were asked to get the certificate, he informed that the makers took few steps and the board took few steps to reach the middle ground as far cuts and modifications were concerned.
He added that he felt the board also had its own limitations and their past experiences have been bitter. The government had given them certain responsibilities and they had a lot of pressure on them. Amit also mentioned that once the film was released and got a lot of appreciation, he reached to the board via the media if they were willing to reconsider their certification. He started telling them through the media that I’m folding my hands to request to make this film UA because the intention was such that the families watch it and the purpose has been defeated.
