Pankaj Tripathi has been a formidable actor but it is not all the time that he gets to play the lead role in movies especially when a star like Akshay Kumar is attached to it. But when it came to OMG 2, Akshay Kumar played the supporting role while Pankaj was leading the film from the front. Director Amit Rai shared the experience of working with Akshay and Pankaj.
In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, the director revealed that despite being the producer, Akshay gave him all the liberty to make the film he wanted to make and never interfered in anything. He also revealed that Akshay didn’t even know the length of his role, he said that Pankaj’s character has filed the case and he is only going to be his source. The film is on his shoulder but Pankaj will be driving the film. He also highlighted that Akshay never asked to increase his scenes, he knew the role and did it very honestly and now it looks like a two hero film because each one’s role is very balanced.
Amit also mentioned how he asked the CBFC members to give the film a UA certificate with folded hands. He revealed that the board had its own limitations and there was a lot of pressure on them. Amit also mentioned that once the film was released and got a lot of appreciation, he reached out to the board via the media if they were willing to reconsider their certification. He started telling them through the media, "I’m folding my hands to request to make this film UA because the intention was such that the families watch it and the purpose has been defeated."
