In a time and space where Bollywood is being trolled for copying content from regional cinema,
Nandita Das is serving up a fresh new story of a delivery man and his family with ‘Zwigato’. The movie is about a man doing odd jobs to earn his bread and butter and make ends meet in an economically volatile situation. The film, which releases on March 17, promises a potpourri of emotions.
As a filmmaker, Nandita said that she was 'compelled' to tell this story, but when we asked her about the commercial aspect and box office success, Das said, "If that is what my aim was, I would have done other kinds of films.
More than the cash register, I want people to watch it. I want everyone to watch it; its by-product will be the box office. The producers deserve to get their money back."She further added, "I made Zwigato because I was compelled to do so, compelled to tell the story. As simple as that."
"The story, and the situations in this film, those things touched me, and that is what I am sharing with everyone. So it is obvious that I would want every person to watch it,” concluded Nandita Das.
