Royalty for singers is a basic right, but in India, it was still a point of discussion till the Indian Music Industry entered into an agreement with ISRA (Indian Singers Rights Association) stating that 25% of all royalty collection will be shared with singers. However, it seems that singer
Lucky Ali is least affected by this development.
In an interview with a leading newspaper, the popular singer mentioned that he hasn’t received his royalties for years and it is not going to make much of a difference if he gets it now.
However, he does hope that it happens, as so many artists trust the people behind the agreement and they now have a responsibility to fulfil. He also mentioned that artists who are linked with labels will benefit more out of this, as independent artists are more responsible for what they do, if they falter they pay, if things click, they enjoy the benefits.
Lucky Ali, who is known for his hits like Ek Pal Ka Jeena and Hairat, has pretty much moved to the independent music way, just like the way he has begun his career with songs like O Sanam and Kitni Haseen Zindagi. He recently released a new song called Virtuality with an Israeli artist Eliezer Cohen Botzer.
