They say that talent cannot be kept under wraps for long.
Such is the case with Anmol Malik, daughter of acclaimed composer Anu Malik, who has slowly carved her own niche. Her song Talli main talli ho gai from the recently released Ranvir Shorey and Mallika Sherawat-starrer has turned out to be a big hit. Whats more interesting is that this 17-year-old has as many as four Bollywood movies to her credit, while quite a few more are in the pipeline.
Her teenage exuberance is evident as she narrates her Talli experience.

Mallika wasnt aware of the fact that I had sung the song. She called up dad, and complimented him for the number. She also said that it has been sung really well too. That was so overwhelming for me. I was told that I am going to be singing the song a night before the recording. I spent the whole time memorising it, so that I could put the emotions more easily without reading out the lyrics, smiles the upcoming singer.
Anmol has taken Hindustani classical lessons from her grand-dad, whereas she has picked up other voice-related lessons from her father. The first song she recorded as a child artiste was for the 1999 David Dhawan film Biwi No. 1 called Mujhe maaf karna. After that, she sang for films like Badal, Mela and Umrao Jaan. The youngster, who plays the piano and the guitar, is looking forward to the music release of the Satish Kaushik film, Tere Sang. I dont know the exact date, but the release will happen soon and I am looking forward to it. Hope the listeners love my song, says she.
A die-hard fan of Bollywood, and understandably so since she grew up on it, Anmol also loves alternative rock, R&B and soul. So, is she getting any more offers? Yes, I am. But, at least for a while I am going to work only with my father. It is a collective decision. So, I will cross the bridge when I come to it, says the spunky singer. Though she has taken up music for her career at present, her academic interests lie elsewhere. She plans to study Computer Science and Business Management, and she doesnt mind facing the camera too. Creativity comes in many different forms. So, why not? says this eccentric girl as she likes to describe herself!
All we can say is that it is great to have such a talented young girl amongst us.
