Karisma Kapoor spied on Raveena Tandon’s looks on Andaz Apna Apna set, reveals Ashley Rebello as he recalls behind-the-scenes chaos

As the cult classic Andaz Apna Apna returns to theatres, fashion designer Ashley Rebello revisits the chaotic yet magical memories from the film’s sets. In an interview with India Today, Ashley shared how he landed the responsibility of styling Raveena Tandon, starting with the famous nightgown for the song Yeh Raat Aur Yeh Duri.

“I was working with Preeti Sinha’s father, Vinay Kumar Sinha. He was such a sweet man. Those days, you had to coordinate between producer, director, and actor. For Yeh Raat Aur Yeh Duri, I remember doing two or three outfit changes for Raveena because the song stretched over various night scenes,” he said.

He even revealed a fun incident involving Karisma Kapoor. “I didn’t know Karisma then, but later worked with her on many films. Back then, word spread about Raveena’s stunning yellow nightgown. Someone even passed on a message from Karisma saying, ‘Wow, what a nightgown he made! Can he make one for me too?’ It was hilarious and so much fun working on the film,” he laughed.

Meanwhile, at a recent event, Aamir Khan opened up about the film’s tumultuous shoot. “I was the only one who came on time. Karisma aati thi toh Raveena chali jaati thi (When Karisma arrived, Raveena would leave). It was tough,” he said.

He also confirmed that tensions between Raveena and Karisma slowed down the shoot. “Raveena and Karisma ka anban chal raha tha (they were not getting along). I kept wondering how the film would ever be completed when people refused to shoot together,” Aamir admitted with a smile.
