Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor have had a particularly difficult January. Earlier this month, an attempted burglary at their Satguru Sharan residence in Bandra, Mumbai, took a dangerous turn when Saif sustained six serious stab wounds while trying to protect his family. He was quickly taken to the nearby Lilavati Hospital for emergency surgery.
Khan returned home after five days and is now recovering, but the incident has left both the family and their neighbors feeling shaken. Kareena shared a statement on her Instagram, saying that the constant presence of paparazzi puts their family's safety at risk. She noted, "While we appreciate the concern and support, the constant scrutiny and attention are overwhelming and pose a significant risk to our safety."
The family has mostly stayed quiet as they recover from the recent incident. However, they now see safety measures as necessary. After Saif returned from the hospital, it was announced that Ronit Roy's security agency would handle his safety. They have also decided to put up fencing around their balcony, and photos of the work have been shared on social media since yesterday.
The couple's decision to fence in their balcony makes sense, and many people online support them. Comments include: "This is sad... People don’t realize how scary it is to feel unsafe at home. It happened to us when we were robbed, and it took years to feel safe again." Another said, "The paparazzi and random people are always at their gate, so it's easy for them to approach when they're getting into their cars. I'm not sure if they're doing enough for their safety." Someone else added, "It's probably for protection from the same people who are recording them."
On January 16, 2025, Saif was attacked during an attempted burglary at his home, suffering six stab wounds while protecting his family. He underwent emergency surgery and is recovering. The incident has raised security concerns, prompting the couple to enhance their safety measures and hire a security agency.
