In an old interview with Simi Garewal, Rahman shared that he didn’t have time to find a partner, so he asked his mom to choose the right bride for him. He mentioned that he wanted someone who would support his music career, be educated, beautiful, and humble. When asked about his wife, Saira, Rahman talked about the two sides of her personality.

According to Rahman, Saira has two distinct sides: when she's calm, she remains calm, but when she gets angry, that's all she feels. He mentioned that early in their marriage, she would get frustrated because she couldn't go out for simple activities like shopping. Rahman had explained to her beforehand that due to his celebrity status, their life would be different from the usual, and she agreed to it before they married. It was an agreement.

In an interview with Rahmaniac.com, AR Rahman shared that adjusting to a new family member can be challenging, and it was no different when he got married. He mentioned that he had a joint family, which required certain adjustments. However, he added that after the birth of their first child, everything returned to normal.
