Dev Patel, known for his role in 'Monkey Man,' admitted in a recent interview that a character portrayed by Shah Rukh Khan has significantly impacted and shaped his life.

In an interview with Draw Your Box, Dev Patel fondly reminisced about watching the 1997 action thriller 'Koyla,' directed by Rakesh Roshan. He highlighted Shah Rukh Khan's portrayal of a mute character, describing him with red eyes, drenched in sweat, wielding a sword, and sporting a mullet haircut.



Patel further expressed that 'Koyla' resonated deeply with him, portraying a brutal revenge saga where Shah Rukh Khan's character loses his voice by swallowing hot coals. He noted how the film encompasses various elements, likening it to his own identity shaped by such influences.



Dev Patel's admiration for Shah Rukh Khan isn't new. In a recent Reddit AMA session, when asked about his favorite Bollywood films and if any of them inspire his work on 'Monkey Man,' Patel promptly responded with "Anything Shah Rukh Khan does."



Meanwhile, Dev Patel’s Monkey Man on the other hand features him in the lead role alongside Sobhita Dhulipala, Sikandar Kher, Sharlto Copley, Pitobash, Vipin Sharma, Ashwini Kalsekar, Adithi Kalkunte, and Makarand Deshpande in important roles.
