His recently released Chhaava sees him as Sarsenapati Hambirrao Mohite in the magnum opus historical. While
Ashutosh Rana enjoys seeing himself on the big screen, he also wants to balance it out by performing for the live audience through the medium of theatre. Of late he has been busy with a mythological play Humare Ram which is being performed on a grand scale in Mumbai, the actor feels plays are a medium to brush up your skills as an artiste.
He tells us, “Theatre is a training school whereas films and web shows are performing platforms. I believe that for a good performance you require fantastic training. Aur training ki value hi tab hogi jab usko perform karne ke mauke mile. Jaise ghar ke akhade mein wrestler taiyyar hota hai aur Olympics ke platform mein jaake perform karta hai.”
The actor who was seen in films like Pathaan and Fighter says that theatre serves dual purpose. He elaborates, “An actor rejuvenates in theatre because in theatre connectivity ke saath saath communicate karne ki bhi power hoti hai. In life we connect with someone, but we fail to communicate, likewise sometimes we communicate with someone but fail to connect. But your purpose is served when both the things happen simultaneously. A three-hour play engages you so much that you are alert, aware and active while on stage then it helps you prepare more as an actor. When you take these skills and perform in films or web shows it just reflects on screen.”
