After his well received debut as Bhope bhau in Kaminey, script writerturned-actor Amole Gupte is ready to play a baddie again, this time an unprincipled politician in Subhash Kapoors With Love To Obama. The buzz is that Amoles character is inspired by controversial Jharkhand chief minister Shibu Soren.
1x1 polls

It is a first-of-its-kind comedy and a satire on recession, says Subhash. Its about how recession takes a toll on the underworld and how its bosses come together to convey an appeal to the only man who can possibly bring the situation under control - US President Barack Obama. All this will be depicted in a madcap, hilarious way. Not a single reel is serious. This film is my tribute to Kundan Shahs Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro.
Ask Subhash why he chose Amole for the role, and he says, I wanted somebody who can be one-up on everyone else in the film. After I saw Kaminey, I knew that it had to be Amole. He is the surprise package of my film. He plays a politician - cum – ganglord whose business is unaffected by the recession.
Asked whether Guptes character is modeled on Jharkhand chief minister Shibu Soren, Subhash says, I dont want to take names, but yes, a prominent Jharkhand politician is definitely the inspiration.
The shooting for the film, which also stars Neha Dhupia and Rajat Kapoor, commences today.
