Hear that Shah Rukh Khan fans? 'Pathaan 2', the highly-anticipated sequel to the Shah Rukh Khan blockbuster spy film, has been officially confirmed.
In a podcast with Cyrus Broacha, renowned screenwriter Abbas Tyrewala revealed that the script is nearly complete and is awaiting the dialogue stage. Amidst rumours of the film's sequel being green-lit by producers, Abbas confirmed, "'Pathaan 2' is scheduled."
He went on to add, "I believe the script is almost ready for dialogue." While he was at it, he also expressed hope that he would be offered to write the script of the action film.
Shah Rukh Khan is set to reprise his role as the RAW agent Pathaan, with rumours rife about Deepika Padukone's possible return as Rubina. However, reports have stated that director Siddharth Anand will not direct the sequel that was initially scheduled to begin production by the end of 2024.
Following the massive success of 'Pathaan' earlier last year, which broke box office records and cemented Shah Rukh Khan’s comeback, expectations for 'Pathaan 2' had been sky-high. This sequel will be part of YRF's expanding Spy Universe, which includes hits like Hrithik Roshan's 'War', Salman Khan's 'Tiger' and Alia Bhatt's 'Alpha'.
Meanwhile, SRK also has the film 'King' that is currently in the works. The movie which also stars Suhana Khan and Abhishek Bachchan, is slated to hit the big screen on Eid 2026.
