Raga and symphony

The three-day musical treat at the Vasantotsav Sangeet Mahotsav 2009 saw an excellent turnout of music lovers from Pune and outside.
The celebration kicked off with a glorious rendition by Rahul Deshpande, the grandson of Dr Vasantrao Deshpande. The city���s audience was also treated to an awesome avatar of fusion music with the legendary violinist Dr L Subramaniam playing along with Leipzig Philharmonic Orchestra from Germany.
On the second day, the young champs from a reality show brought the stage alive, and that was followed by a classy sitar recital by Ustad Shahid Pervez. On the last day, two more sublime acts took the stage. In the first, Rakesh Chaurasia, Pt Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, Vijay Ghate, Mukul Dongre, Bhawani Shankar and Rahul Deshpande came together.
Then, a jugalbandi between Shankar Mahadevan and Ustad Rashid Khan marked the grand finale of the musical festivity. Suresh Wadkar, Loy Mendonsa, Neha Deshpande, Satyapal Singh, Sumantai Kirloskar, Vishwajit Kadam, R Vasudevan, Kunal Ganjawala and his wife Gayatri were present on the occasion.
