It was reported that well-known lawyer Mark Geragos is expected to play an important role in the legal team defending music star Sean “Diddy” Combs.Geragos is currently serving as a legal advisor on the case. His daughter, Teny Geragos, is already a part of Combs’s legal team. Now, there are signs that Mark Geragos himself may soon be officially allowed to represent the rapper in court.
Geragos is widely known for working with many famous clients in the past. Over the years, he has represented big names like pop legend Michael Jackson, R&B singer Chris Brown, Hunter Biden, Roger Clinton (Bill Clinton’s brother), and the Menendez brothers, who were part of a major criminal case in the 1990s. With such high-profile experience, many believe Geragos’s involvement could significantly impact Combs’s defense strategy.
Sean Diddy Combs is currently dealing with several serious legal accusations. The charges include sexual assault, racketeering conspiracy, and sex trafficking through force, fraud, or coercion. He is also accused of transporting people to engage in prostitution. At present, Combs is behind bars but has pleaded not guilty to all charges brought against him.
Leading his defense is attorney Marc Agnifilo, one of the six lawyers working on the case. However, another lawyer, Anthony Ricco, left the team in March after a reported disagreement with Agnifilo. It remains unclear whether Geragos will replace Ricco or serve a different role on the team.
The defense is expected to argue that there is no strong evidence to support many of the accusations. One of their claims is that there is no proof showing anyone involved was intoxicated or under the influence of drugs during the alleged incidents. The team also reportedly plans to challenge the evidence related to the sex trafficking allegations.
In another court document, Combs’s legal team claimed that he is being treated unfairly and suggested that race may be a factor. They pointed out that no White person has been prosecuted in the same way, which may become part of their argument during the trial.
Sean Combs's trial is scheduled to begin on May 5, 2025
