Anyone who watched ‘La La Land’ knew that director Damien Chazelle had made a masterpiece. But few thought he would make Oscars history with it. Yes, Damien Chazelle bagged the Best Director award for the musical starring Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone. What’s more, with this, 32-year-old Chazelle has become the youngest director in Oscars history to win the honour.

In his acceptance speech, the director, who had brought his girlfriend Olivia Hamilton to his big night, said, “This was a movie about love and I was lucky enough to fall in love while making it.”
Chazelle’s ‘La La Land’ went into the awards ceremony with a whopping 14 nominations.
