Matt Damon, the ever-changing Academy Award winner, has blown minds with his body transformation, stunning fans with his unrecognizable chiseled look. The actor is shooting for Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’ alongside Zendaya in Favignana, Italy, and the behind-the-scene glimpses went viral on social media.

The New look

Damon is seen in the rugged look with a long grey beard, pants made from an old cloth, and the physique that underlines the aura of Odysseus, the Greek hero who’s been through battles, behind the backdrop of rocky mountains. The pieces of wood on his chest and his sleek hair add the touch of intensity needed for the role. Zendaya was spotted wearing a tan dress and with her hair pulled up.

With Matt Damon and Zendaya, ‘The Odyssey,’ the film about Homer’s ancient Greek poem stars Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o and Charlize Theron as well. While Damon plays the lead, Odysseus, Tom Holland will play his son, Telemachus.

About 'The Odyssey'

The film is scheduled to be released in 2026, and the shoots began in February at the picturesque locations of Italy, Greece, and Morocco.
In December, Universal Pictures confirmed the release date by stating, “Christopher Nolan’s next film ‘The Odyssey’ is a mythic action epic shot across the world using brand new IMAX film technology. The film brings Homer’s foundational saga to IMAX film screens for the first time and opens in theaters everywhere on July 17, 2026.”

The transformation seems to have shocked the fans as when the cast was announced, many Greek fans expressed their disappointment for casting non-Greek actors for the story. One user wrote, “As a Greek, this is so disappointing on all levels. Not a single Greek cast member in sight, the movie won’t film at all in any parts of Greece. Very upsetting considering Nolan is known for his authenticity,” according to Page Six.
