The new Superman and Lois Lane have been announced by James Gunn, who is writing and directing the new super-hero film, Superman: Legacy. The film is slated for a July 2025 release. The two legendary characters will be played by David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan. Brosnahan is comparatively better known among the two and has played a leading role in the TV show The Marvelous Mrs Maisel picking up an Emmy and two Golden Globe awards for her acting.
David Corenswet is from Philadelphia and edged out Nicholas Hoult and Tom Brittney to win the role. He has acted before in OTT shows such as The Politician and Hollywood. Henry Cavill played the role of Superman for a decade prior to this.
The announcement was made by James Gunn, who also heads DC Studios along with Peter Safran on Twitter just yesterday. Warner Bros. has confirmed the news. The two co-chairs of DC Studios are embarking on a decade-long plan to make Warner Bros’ DC Studio emerge a winner. This will be their first project as co-chairs.
The new film will centre around Superman trying to come to terms with both his legendary and aristocratic Kryptonian roots and his childhood as Clark Kent in a modest town in the mid-western region of the US.
