Saurav gears up for the third show

Saurav gears up for the third show
After the first two houseful shows, Saurav Palodhi is gearing up to stage the third show of his latest play, Ghum Nei. Based on Utpal Dutt’s text of the same title, the play is directed by Saurav and the music is composed by Debdeep Mukherjee. The play features Koushik Kar in a prominent role. This is the first time that Kaushik has teamed up with Saurav’s group, Ichheymoto.

Initially, the director was supposed to play one of the key characters, Akhlaq — a truck driver. Later, Saurav opted out and Koushik joined.
Speaking on the collaboration, Saurav earlier told us, “Ever since I watched Koushik’s Auto, a play by Kolkata Rangeela, and he watched my Captain Hurrah, we decided to collaborate. Finally, we got that chance. In Kolkata, a lot of collaborations take place due to manipulations and personal equations. This one is beyond any ulterior motive. It is just out of creative requirement.”
Koushik, on the other hand, is very happy too. “I always felt that our generation of theatre workers, including Anirban (Bhattacharya), Arna (Mukhopadhyay), Saurav, myself and others, should try and collaborate. This is just the beginning,” he said, adding, “Saurav wanted me to work in this play from the beginning, but I was busy preparing for my next film, Kalo Bou. But that project got postponed due to the elections and I decided to work with Saurav. It is fun. He has already completed the composition, so it became easier for me to adopt.”
