Though Mainak Banerjea���������s first big screen project, Sajal Samaddar���������s Bhalobeshe Dekho Ekbar, got delayed due to certain unavoidable circumstances and the shooting for the same will expectedly commence from April, the actor has already bagged his next, Subrata Lahiri���������s Chameli Chandan. This film also boasts of a cast of including Victor Banerjee, Manoj Mitra, Paran Bandopadhyay, Kalyani Mondol, Chandan Das and Mou Roy, to name a few.Interestingly, the director wants to convey a message through his second project, his first being a film titled, Daiboddhho. ���������Music is the focal point of my film and I want to show that there is an archive value of certain musical instruments. Old doesn���������t necessarily mean obsolete, but there is a preservative value of certain musical instruments,��������� says Subrata.
Elaborating further on the script Mainak adds that he essays the role of a recordist and Victor Banerjee���������s son-in-law. ���������This guy helps a girl, who is Victor Banerjee���������s step sister, make the right decisions in her life in order to let her musical talent blossom rightfully. But his efforts trigger a rift between his wife, who is Victor Banerjee���������s daughter, and him resulting in a turmoil in his personal life,��������� explains Mainak, stressing that it was the strength of the character and storyline that were catalysts in him giving his nod to the project. The actor is also elated to be sharing screen space with a ���������veteran like Victor Banerjee���������.
As to how Mainak bagged the project, he continues that someone from the industry had recommended his name to the director following which he got a call from Subrata. ���������A meeting later, he felt that I fit the bill of this character and hence I got the part without having to audition for it,��������� the actor stresses. Another high point of this project, as pointed by Subrata, is that ���������Manna Dey has sung a number after a long time���������. The music of this venture has been scored is by Mrinal Banerjee.
