Kabir Suman, who has scored music for Aniket Chattopadhay’s Shankar Mudi starring Kaushik Ganguly, Sreela Majumdar, and others, says that the film’s music focuses on globalisation. “There is a song in the film which shows a drunken woman, affected by financial crisis, singing it. No one but Bidipta Chakraborty could have sung it. We approached her and she obliged.

She has done a fantastic job,” said Suman, adding, “I have added a few ballads in the film so that it adds to the narration.” When asked what he did on his birthday, Suman shared, “I was at home. I had doi-chhire for lunch and a fried fish. In the evening, I was busy with my music classes.”
The film revolves around a small grocery shop. It was an integral part of the neighbourhood. Not only serving as the ultimate destination for their household needs but also providing sustenance to the ecosystem of camaraderie and humanism. And then, one morning, things changed. Organised corporate retailing became business of the decade and a huge shopping mall came up in the neighbourhood. Shankar faced the unfair competition courageously, trying to bring them back with modest innovations and indomitable spirit. But nothing worked. Ultimately Shankar had no option but to put up his entire savings and existence at stake. It was the last battle for him, the ultimate destiny which would decide his survival, and if not, its aftermath on the ecosystem of affinity, solidarity, and humanism in the neighbourhood.
