Ditipriya Roy, who became a household name playing Rani Rashmoni on television, has bagged yet another meaty role in an upcoming film directed by Srijit Mukherji. According to the latest reports, Mukherji has chosen Roy to play the lead in his new film, which revolves around the life of Bina Das, a prominent Indian revolutionary and nationalist from West Bengal.
Having recently appeared in the web series ‘Raajneeti’, Ditipriya Roy is set to take on the challenging role of a young Bina Das in this biopic. However, the casting for the older version of Bina Das is yet to be announced. Previous reports suggested that Rituparna Sengupta might play the older version of the Bengali revolutionary figure.
If the latest reports are to believe then this will be the second time that Ditipriya will be working with Srijit, following their previous venture together in the historical drama ‘Rajkahini’. The movie boasted an impressive ensemble cast, including Rituparna Sengupta, Jisshu Sengupta, Abir Chatterjee, Jaya Ahsan, and Sohini Sarkar, among other renowned actors from the industry.
Expressing her excitement about the project, Ditipriya Roy mentioned in a recent interview, "It was a big surprise for me as well. We have been discussing this for quite some time, but I never expected the news to be published so soon. I still have limited information about it, and work is expected to commence around December-January."
