The actress tweeted about the film and posted a photograph with the caption, “Homage to the veteran filmmaker #Satyajit Ray, who has given us some beautiful movies to learn from. I'm glad & elated to be the part of #Abhijatrik the movie which is the continuation of Apu Trilogy. My respect to the luminary (Sic).” The Apu Trilogy - Pather Panchali (1955), Aparajito (1956) and Apur Sansar (1959) – is widely regarded as Satyajit Ray’s cult classic, which started the neo-realist movement in Indian cinema.
Coming third is Rajarshi De’s upcoming film, Rifle, in which Arpita will be seen in the role of an IPS officer. The story of the film revolves around some terrorist organisations on the Indo-Bangladesh border that use Indian coins to make arms and ammunition. Coins being a very good source of high-quality but cheap metal are used by these organisations for arms manufacturing.
Guldasta is a story of three women – Sreerupa, Renu and Dolly – and the struggles of their lives. The character of Dolly is being played by Swastika, Sreerupa is being played by Arpita and the character of Renu will be essayed by Debjani. Besides them, Anubhab Kanjilal, Ishan Majumder, Anuradha Mukherkee and Abhijit Guha will also be seen in the film.
