Amrita Chattopadhyay is super-excited about her next venture,
Saibal Mitra's Debotaar Graash. The film is an adaptation of the novel, Inherit the Wind, by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E Lee, and stars
Soumitra Chatterjee and
Naseeruddin Shah as two rival lawyers. Said Amrita, "I play the pastor's daughter, who initiates a legal case against her boyfriend, Kunal." The story is set in Hillolganj, a township, where majority of the inhabitants belong to the Adivasi community and are Christians by religion.
There, Kunal Joseph, a science professor, denies teaching The Genesis of the Bible before science. This leads to communal tension in the area as Kunal is a Hindu. "I am prepping for the role by re-reading the script. Since I play a Christian girl, I need to understand certain rituals better. Currently, I am doing that," she informed.
