Fans of Overlord, get ready! The popular anime movie Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom is finally streaming on Crunchyroll.
After being released in Japanese theatres in September 2024, the movie will now be available worldwide on Crunchyroll from April 24, 2025. The film continues the story from Overlord Season 4 and adapts the "Roble Holy Kingdom" arc from the original light novels written by Kugane Maruyama. It’s the latest big release in the Overlord franchise, which is one of the most loved isekai anime out there.
We can now enjoy both the original Japanese version and the English dub. Crunchyroll is also offering subtitles and dubs in other languages like Spanish, Portuguese, and Russian. With this release, we can now watch the full Overlord story on one platform — including all four TV seasons, past compilation films, and now this latest movie.
The movie is 132 minutes long and was created by Studio Madhouse, the same team behind the anime series. If you haven’t seen Overlord yet, now is the perfect time to start from the beginning and catch up.
What is the story of Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom
Overlord is about a man trapped in an MMORPG game world where he becomes a powerful skeleton wizard. With his loyal followers, he explores the new world and tries to find others like him, using his strength to take control.
In this movie, the peaceful Sacred Kingdom is attacked by a brutal demon lord named Jaldabaoth. With their kingdom in danger, the people have no choice but to ask Ainz for help—even though they're afraid of him. Ainz agrees, but of course, he has his own plans. The story focuses on an epic war, powerful magic battles, and how Ainz uses the situation to expand his influence even more.
Directed by Naoyuki Ito, the film brings back all the familiar voices. Satoshi Hino voices Ains in Japanese, while Chris Guerrero plays him in the English dub. Other key characters like Albedo, Demiurge, and Neia also return, voiced by their original actors.
The movie also features a powerful theme song, WHEELER-DEALER by OxT.
